Active Employer Council
The Active Employer Council (AEC) is a newly created group of dynamic and caring business people in the community Job Squad serves. The council meets monthly to meet job-seekers with disabilities who give a short presentation on the type(s) of employment or business opportunities they are seeking. The AEC acts to facilitate communication and develop connections between job-seekers and employers, the end result being wage or self-employment for the individuals JSI serves. Ultimately, the AEC creates Social Capital by using their professional and/or personal connections to assist individuals in obtaining employment that fits with their interests, abilities and experience. In this way, the AEC is adding value to both individuals and businesses in the community.
Members are invited to join based on their ability to leverage power and develop connections in the community. It is these connections that many people we serve do not have access to. The AEC assists individuals and Job Squad by making these "reciprocal connections".
